Francesca Marais was born and raised in South Africa and now lives in NYC. She went to university in Arizona for a degree in Information Systems, but she has been writing poetry since she was thirteen years old as a form of journaling and self-expression. The poems in Emerge represent her personal evolution and her journey to self-identification as an integral part of the world rather than a secluded entity. And as part of that realization, she built up the courage to publish her first book, in service to her belonging and to the hope that her words and experiences will resonate with others.
