Entropy and Where to Submit.

We are still crying over the news of Entropy's closure, and we wanted to pick up the torch so all writers can find opportunities that fit their vision.

Who doesn’t love Entropy? We use it here at Tell Tell internally when we’re submitting our own work out, we check it out for clients, and we suggest it in all our resources. It’s a frickin’ literary staple at this point, so when we heard Entropy was closing down, we all cried. For real. Actual tears. And then we got scared. Where would we go for submission calls? (Seriously, I think my own personal IP address is listed at least 20 billion times on their website’s backend…)

So we wanted to honor their legacy and take up the torch by continuing the quarterly WHERE TO SUBMIT posts. We’ll be posting 4x a year, and we’ll be including categories that can help you find places you’re really excited about. We’re also allowing magazines, presses, journals, residencies, and fellowships to offer fee waivers so that BIPOC and minority groups can get the support they need.

We are also covering $200 in submission fees yearly to authors who need support. So if you’re looking to submit but cannot cover the fees, email hello@telltellpoetry.com with FEE SUPPORT in the subject line. Please include where you’re submitting, how much it costs, and your PayPal account. We will cover up to two fees per person per year.

How to get on the new WHERE TO SUBMIT list?

To get on the list, please fill out the form HERE. You’ll be asked to format your call for submissions in a special way so we can easily share your info when the time comes.

We will be posting on the following dates, so all calls need to be in by the last Friday of the month.

MARCH 1: For calls in March, April, and May

JUNE 1: For calls in June, July, and August

SEPTEMBER 1: For calls in September, October, and November

DECEMBER 1: For calls in December, January, and February

How to format the calls?

Please follow the formatting description in the Google Form above. Your final call request will look something like this:

NAME OF MAGAZINE – GENRE OF WORK YOU ACCEPT (POETRY, FICTION, NON-FICTION, ETC) – OPENING DATE-DEADLINE DATE or YEAR-ROUND – FEE or SPECIFICATIONS FOR WAIVED FEES – WHAT YOU PAY (if applicable) – CATEGORY (FEMINIST, NATURE-FOCUSED, ETC.)

Tell Tell Poetry – Poetry – March 1–June 28th – Free to submit – Pay $20 per line – Feminist Poetry.

At the end of the form, you’ll be asked to link out to the submission page.

What if I have another opportunity?

There’s a section where you can add details on other opportunities.

What if I miss Entropy?

I know. I know. 🙁

What if I hate your list?

Please direct all hatemail to the trash bin. We’re just people tryin’ to do human stuff, so please don’t be mean to us.
